As a board certified orthopedic surgeon, Ernst specializes in pediatric orthopedics. He received his training at the Medical Universities of Vienna and Graz in Austria and at the Medical Universities of Heidelberg and Aachen in Germany. Ernst is a medical advisor to the Austrian Golfers Association. He also works in interdisciplinary teams of coaches, trainers, golf professionals and fitness experts to enhance the quality of junior training in several countries in Europe. The task at hand is to implement Long-Term-Player-Development concepts.
Ernst and his colleagues, Robert Kocher MD, Hans Brislinger, and Dr. Lutz Leistritz from the University of Jena, Germany developed a system to estimate the individual biological age of juniors. To honor the biological age of juniors is a necessity when it comes to the application of Long-Term-Player-Development concepts. The web based application is called GROWMETRY (www.growmetry.com).
As a senior consultant orthopedic surgeon, Ernst treats numerous golf professionals playing on the first three level European golf tours and works as a member of junior advisory board of the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI).
